A Bit About Me

Nurturing Care

Motherhood

Selecting the right person to be at your side during this special time is exciting and there are various things to consider. Here are some facts about me that may help in deciding if I am the doula for you!

• I have completed formal Birth Doula training through DONA International which is a leader in evidence-based doula training and certification. I am also a proud member of Maternity Care Coalition's Community Doula Program which has allowed me to be educated by several leaders in the Philadelphia birthing community.

• Prior to starting my journey in birth work, I’m a Nurse with over 15 years of experience, I have an extensive history supporting individuals dealing with substance abuse and trauma. I place value on one's physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. I pride myself on being able to maintain and promote calm in stressful and unpredictable situations.

• I am a mother and have firsthand experience with breastfeeding as well as exclusively pumping. I offer postpartum support and am more than willing to assist you if any issues related to feeding arise.

After going through my first pregnancy, I felt this amazing empowerment and connection with my body, my partner and my child. The experience was intense and overwhelming, but also very very awesome, and I was grateful to have my own doula there to nurture and keep me balanced throughout the process. I felt then that it was my calling to become a doula. The word “doula” is an ancient Greek word meaning ‘woman caregiver’, and in my practice I offer support to women and their partners before, during and after childbirth. My role is to help facilitate safe, positive and empowering birthing experiences by offering the information, emotional support and physical support needed during this time.
